[Track & Field] Three Mustang 10K Runners Rewrite School Records

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – On Thursday night, Vanessa Cortes (JR/Bakersfield, Calif.), Alexa Zamora (SR/Apple Valley, Calif.), and Colton Forster (SR/Marion, Iowa) competed in the 10,000 Meters at the Augustana Invitational shattering previous school records.

Cortes finished atop the leaderboard with a personal best time of 37:29.89 breaking the previous Mount Mercy school record by nearly two minutes. This performance also qualified her for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships under the "A" Standard. Zamora finished in fifth place with a personal best time of 39:15.03 also breaking the previous school record by 12 seconds.

On the men's side, Forster took the title with a personal best time of 31:16.37. This performance gave him the new school record by over a minute and qualified him for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships under the "B" Standard.

Up next, the Mustangs will travel to Dubuque, Iowa for the Good Friday Invitational on Friday, April 19.
